Woodley vs Burns

Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns face off at a UFC Fight Night at the UFC APEX facility at Astana Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 30 (5/30/2020). Woodley is a former UFC champion and currently the #1 ranked welterweight fighter. Burns is a multiple Jiu-Jitsu world champion, and #6 ranked fighter in the division.

UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Burns will be broadcast on ESPN, and can be streamed live on ESPN Plus, Sling TV, AT&T TV, Hulu with Live TV and other services.

In the main event, Woodley (19 – 4 – 1) and Burns (18 – 3 – 0) face off in the UFC’s first event back in Las Vegas since the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancelation and postponement of several events dating back to March. More recent events have taken place in Nebraska and Florida.

Woodley enters the octagon for the first time since losing the championship to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 more than a year ago following three successful title defenses. Burns is on a five fight win streak dating back to 2018. A win for Woodley, who is favored to win (-175), would put him back in contention to reclaim the title.

“I’m as focused as I’ve ever been in my entire professional career,” Woodley told ESPN. “Every time I’ve lost, my next fight has been a knockout. I’m not saying I’m going to knock him out, but look at my statistics. … I’ve shown I’m going to be resilient and I’m going to bounce back. And I’m going to make you forget about that last performance.”

The main fight card starts at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN Plus, with the preliminary bouts at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN Plus.

The headlining fight is sure to be explosive, but the undercard is stocked with some great fights as well, starting in the co-main event, where Blagoy Ivanov (18 – 3 – 0) takes on Augusto Sakai (14 – 1 – 1) in a heavyweight bout. Ivanov has one of the most incredible stories in the UFC, having been stabbed, placed in an artificial coma, the fighting his way back to a condition where he could compete again.
