Origin football is just around the corner, and once again, this year’s series promises to be three electric confrontations of mate vs mate, and indeed, state vs state.

This year’s Origin promises to be a series like no other, with significant changes to the NRL season also affecting the structure of the Origin series.

Now the teams have been announced, below is everything you need to know about the 2020 Origin series. Strap on your curly wig of choice, because This. is. Origin.

WHEN & WHERE WILL THE 2020 STATE OF ORIGIN SERIES BE PLAYED

For the first time in the series’ history, an Origin match will be played at the Adelaide Oval in 2020 . In addition, 2020 is the first time that the State of Origin series will take place at the end of the NRL season across three consecutive weeks. Games will still be played on Wednesday nights as is customary for State of Origin.

HOW CAN I WATCH ORIGIN?

State of Origin screens live and exclusively on Channel 9 and  9Now in Australia. Replays will also be available to watch on Kayo and Fox Sports .

STATE OF ORIGIN TICKETS

It looked like we might not have any fans at State of Origin for a while there, but with the coronavirus situation mostly under control around the country, venues will be able to host some crowds.

50 per cent capacity has been approved for game I at the Adelaide Oval, allowing just over 25,000 fans into the venue.

ANZ Stadium will host around 40,000 fans for game II, while the Maroons should receive a boost when they run out in front of nearly 40,000 fans at Suncorp Stadium, representing 75 per cent of the venue’s capacity, for game III.

WHAT TIME DOES STATE OF ORIGIN START?

Expect the games to kick off at 8:10pm AEDT.

Game I will begin at 7:40pm local time in Adelaide, which is 8:10pm AEDT. Game II is in Sydney and will start at 8:10pm local time, while game III will start at 7:10pm in Brisbane.
