Alabama takes on Ohio State for the 2021 College Football Playoff national championship on Monday, Jan. 11. This will be the first meeting between the programs since the Buckeyes beat the Crimson Tide in a 2015 CFP semifinal game.
Alabama beat Notre Dame 31-14 in a College Football Playoff semifinal on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. The Crimson Tide got four passing touchdowns from Mac Jones — three of them to Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith — and 125 rushing yards from Najee Harris.
The Crimson Tide are now 12-0 and will play Ohio State for the national title on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.
Alabama entered the 2020 college football season in rare territory. The Crimson Tide finished 11-2 last season, the program’s ninth consecutive year it won 11 or more games — a record in the AP poll era. But for the first time in College Football Playoff history, head coach Nick Saban’s team was not among the top four teams after playing in the past four national championship games. However, Alabama bounced back to earn the No. 1 seed this season.
